Bill passes House of Rep.

Finally, there seems to be some type of progress with the healthcare reform bill proposed by the president. At this time, the bill has just passed through the House of Representatives and is now being debated in the Senate. If it passes through the Senate then the reform bill will be carried in the country. So how did the bill pass through?
The House passed its health care bill late Saturday night by a 220-215 vote, with 39 Democrats in opposition and one Republican supporting it. The bill has many strong points as it relates to healthcare insurance. The bill has a benefits package that will enable insurance buyers to have $5000 of insurance for individuals who can not afford insurance. Also, the bill talks about a public plan that allows for a government sponsored program to give aid for people who cannot afford insurance. Also, there has been some changes into how the government is going to pay for the bill to take effect. The bill will cost 1 trillion dollars in total. Half will be paid by savings from Medicaid and Medicare and the other half of the money will be paid by citizens’ taxes. All in all, this bill seems to help a lot of people.
President Barack Obama gave a speech after the bill was passed by the House of Representatives. He wanted to congradulate the government for passing this milestone. We now can look forward to fine tuning the bill in order to pass through the Senate and become a law.

  1. I have been following the topic of health care reform as well, and it seems that we are heading in the right direction for reform. The reform bill will help an abundant number of people who are struggling with paying for medical costs. Many people fear this plan will give the government too much control, but I think this is the type of control our health care system is in need of.

  2. I also agree. This reform bill is a major step in health care reform. The government is now half way done in being able to change the health care system for people in America.
